The Southeast Permanente Medical Group is pleased to announce that Utpal Pandya, MD, has been named Chief of Cardiology. Since joining TSPMG in 2010, he has established himself as an outstanding clinician and leader, quickly gaining the trust of his patients, fellow clinicians, and staff. He has embraced the Permanente model of delivering high quality, affordable, evidence-based care and has provided excellent leadership as the department expands its services and locations in Kaiser Permanente of Georgia Medical Offices.
Dr. Pandya received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and his medical degree from the Wayne State University School of Medicine. He completed residencies and fellowships in internal medicine, cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiology at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Interventional Cardiology, Vascular Medicine, Endovascular Interventions, and Registered Physician Vascular Interpretation (RPVI). Prior to joining TSPMG he was on the Board of Trustees of the Ohio ACC and primary investigator in multiple coronary and peripheral interventional trials.
The Southeast Permanente Medical Group is pleased to announce that Nirvan Mukerji, MD, has been named Chief of Nephrology. TSPMG Nephrology is in an exciting stage of development and actively expanding their services to include dialysis rounding. Dr. Mukerji, who joined TSPMG in 2010, has demonstrated a vision and determination to establish TSPMG Nephrology as the benchmark for outstanding quality and service in Atlanta.
Dr. Mukerji received his undergraduate degree from Stanford University and his medical degree from the Stony Brook School of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas and his fellowship in nephrology at Duke University Medical Center. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. He was in private practice in the Atlanta area prior to joining TSPMG.
The Southeast Permanente Medical Group pleased to announce that Robert (Bob) Climko, MD, MBA has joined TSPMG as Chief of Behavioral Health.
In his new role, Dr. Climko will be responsible for retention and recruitment of additional highly qualified Behavioral Health clinicians, further leadership development within the department, ensuring that our members have excellent access to behavioral health care, and focusing on delivering care of the highest quality. Ultimately, his efforts will be instrumental in helping us meet our affordability, quality, and service goals.
Dr. Climko has broad administrative, operational, disease and utilization management experience. Positions he held prior to joining TSPMG include Senior Medical Director of APS Healthcare, Director of Medical Affairs for the Cobb/Douglas County Community Service Board, Medical Director for the DeKalb Regional Crisis Center, and Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for Behavioral Health Partners.
Dr. Climko received his medical degree from Northeastern University and completed a residency in Psychiatry at UMDNJ-Rutgers Medical School. He is Board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Board of Addiction Medicine.
The Southeast Permanente Medical Group is pleased to announce that Daniel Tucker, DPM, has joined Kaiser Permanente of Georgia as Lead in the Department of Podiatric Medicine, Foot and Ankle Surgery. Dr. Tucker, who is currently seeing patients at the Kaiser Permanente Glenlake Medical Office, will focus on foot and ankle conditions that warrant more aggressive care, including traumatic and reconstructive surgery.
Dr. Tucker received his medical degree from The New York College of Podiatric Medicine and completed a residency in podiatric medicine and reconstructive surgery of the foot and ankle at Hoboken University Medical Center. He is board certified in foot surgery and reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery. Prior to joining TSPMG, he was in private practice in Southern California.
The Southeast Permanente Medical Group is pleased to announce that Julia Skeen, previously Manager of Educational Design & Training, has been promoted to Director of Professional Development. In her new role, Julia will continue to have responsibility for educational design and training and will also oversee our Continuing Medical Education (CME) program. Sandi Gauthier, Manager of CME, will continue to manage our CME activities and will report to Julia.
Julia joined TSPMG in 2006 as a Communication and Leadership Coaching Consultant. She is best known for her outstanding work in clinical communication consulting with our new hires, development of the Physician Leadership training program, and her Program-wide work on the Permanente Medicine and Management Program. Her knowledge, enthusiasm and can-do attitude have established her as a sought-after expert on clinician leadership skill development.
Before she joined TSPMG, Julia served as National Director of Job Market Connections for an international Human Capital Consulting firm and as a communications instructor for the University of Michigan. She holds a B.S. in Organizational Communications and an M.A. in Communications from Eastern Michigan University. She also is certified to administer Myers-Briggs and HBDI assessments and is a Registered Corporate Coach.
