Joey Cadle, MD, Assistant to the Medical Director for External Relations, Marketing and Sales for The Southeast Permanente Medical Group, was recently named to The Permanente Federation as the National Director, Clinical Client Engagement.
In this role Dr. Cadle will provide market-facing clinical expertise and leadership for the Permanente Physician Market Leaders, a group that he has been a part of for the past three years. He will also collaborate with the National Sales and Account Management teams that serve our national employer and labor & trust customers, prospects and benefits consultants.

In addition to Dr. Cadle's new leadership role with The Permanente Federation, he will continue his role with TSPMG where he has has oversight and supervision of a team of 20 clinicians who participate in client-facing activities in the Georgia Region.
Dr. Cadle is a board-certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist practicing with Kaiser Permanente for more than 10 years. He has served as Chief of the Ob/Gyn department in 2007 and 2008. Prior to this role, he served as Managing Physician of three medical office buildings, Lead Physician for a team in the Ob/Gyn department, and a key contributor to KP HealthConnect implementation, deployment and optimization teams. Dr. Cadle joined Kaiser Permanente in 2001 after two years of private practice in Rome, Georgia.
The Permanente Federation was formed in 1997 to represent the national interests of the eight regional Permanente Medical Groups. The Federation provides specialized services and business expertise to the regional medical groups and provides a national Permanente external presence on key policy issues.
Barby Simmons, D.O., a Primary Care physician with Kaiser Permanente of Georgia and The Southeast Permanente Medical Group, has been named to the Georgia Composite Medical Board. The Medical Board is comprised of sixteen members appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the State Senate. Her appointment was announced by Georgia Governor Nathan Deal’s office.
The Medical Board’s mission is to protect the health of Georgians through the proper licensing of physicians and certain members of the healing arts and through the objective enforcement of the Medical Practice Act. The agency licenses physicians, physician assistants, respiratory care professionals, and a number of other medical services and practices in the State of Georgia. The Board also investigates complaints and disciplines those who violate The Medical Practice Act or other laws governing the professional behavior of its licensees.
Dr. Simmons is a member of Kaiser Permanente’s telemedicine team, providing telephone and video visits to patients across metro Atlanta. She has served in a number of leadership roles, including Team Lead for Adult Medicine and as the Physician Director of Coding and Documentation. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Mississippi State University and a medical degree from Nova Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine.
The Southeast Permanente Medical Group is pleased to announce that Angela Morello, MD has joined our Cardiology department and began seeing patients in July. Dr. Morello will be based in our newly expanded Kaiser Permanente Southwood Medical Center Cardiology practice, which opens to patients on Tuesday, August 16. In addition to consults and follow-up appointments to members in the Southwood catchment area, Dr. Morello will provide Electrophysiology services. An additional cardiologist will join the practice in the near future to offer Electrophysiology to Kaiser Permanente members on the north side of Atlanta.
Dr. Morello received her medical degree from the State University of New York – Stony Brook School of Medicine, and completed her residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and her fellowship training in Cardiology and Electrophysiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiology.
Our Kaiser Permanente Medical Center Southwood Cardiology practice is significantly expanding access for members south of Atlanta. The department, located on the third floor, provides space for four full-time cardiologists and a full range of testing and treatment, echocardiograms, stress tests including stress echocardiogram and nuclear perfusion imaging.
The Southeast Permanente Medical Group is pleased to announce that Lisa Billars, MD and Ramesh Kumar, MD have joined the Neurology department for Kaiser Permanente of Georgia. The addition of Dr. Billars and Dr. Kumar to the team will help improve access to TSPMG care.
Dr. Billars received her medical degree from the University of South Dakota School of Medicine and completed her neurology residency and a fellowship in clinical neurophysiology and sleep medicine at Emory University Hospital. She is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Prior to joining TSPMG, she was in private practice in Albany, NY.
Dr. Kumar received his medical degree from Stanley Medical College and completed an internal medicine residency at Mercy Catholic Hospital in Philadelphia. He also completed a residency in neurology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and a fellowship in neurophysiology/epilepsy at Indiana University and Purdue University. He is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
TSPMG is pleased to announce that they have added Plastic Surgery to the growing list of specialties that are offered to metro Atlanta members. Two TSPMG plastic surgeons – Josef G. Hadeed, MD and Eric Odessey, MD will see patients at the Kaiser Permanente Glenlake Medical Office (beginning September 1) and Kaiser Permanente Brookwood Medical Office (beginning October 5), for consults and outpatient procedures.
The initial focus of the department is on reconstruction and repairs such as skin grafts, wound repair, lesion excisions, and breast repair and reconstruction. Longer-term, they may offer some fee-for-service cosmetic procedures such as fillers, liposuction and excess skin removal. They do not plan to offer tattoo removal, and they will not handle pediatric pediatric/craniofacial plastic surgery currently performed by network physicians.
Dr. Hadeed received his medical degree from Temple University. He completed a residency in General Surgery at The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, a fellowship in Hand and Microsurgery at the University of Miami School of Medicine, and a residency in Plastic Surgery at Duke University Medical Center.
Dr. Odessey received his medical degree from Emory University and completed his residency in General Surgery and Plastic Surgery at The University of Chicago Hospitals. He is Board certified in Plastic Surgery. Prior to joining TSPMG, he was in private practice in Binghamton, NY.
