Robert Jefferson, MD, named TSPMG Chief of Urology
The Southeast Permanente Medical Group (TSPMG) is pleased to announce that Robert Jefferson, MD, is our new Chief of Urology. He assumes the role from William Allen, MD, who has done an outstanding job of leading the department.
Dr. Jefferson joined TSPMG in 2001. A native of Thomasville, Ga, he began his medical career as a physician in the U.S. Air Force. In addition to his clinical role as a urologist, he also serves on the peer review committee. Dr. Jefferson is a clear, concise thinker whose attention to detail and knowledge of our organization will put him in a great position to lead the Urology Department forward. I am confident he will be successful in his new position.
Dr. Allen joined TSPMG in 2012 and has served as the department chief for 5 years. Prior to joining the Medical Group, he practiced Urology at Piedmont Hospital for 25 years including many years as the Chief of Urology there. Dr. Allen’s wife Alex co-founded Camp Kudzu, a camp for children and teens living with Type 1 Diabetes and he continues to work in a clinical role at the camp each summer.
Dr. Allen has been an excellent chief and helped solve many of the problems facing Urology. His thoughtful manner and experience brought great stabilization to the department. Dr. Allen has decided to reduce his FTE and slow down slightly. It was a pleasure working with him and he will be missed.
Dr. Jefferson will officially begin his new role in April. He and Dr. Allen will work closely during this time to ensure a seamless transition.
Please join us in welcoming Dr. Jefferson to his new role and thanking Dr. Allen for his years of service.
